Thanks
to a global pandemic, the first half of 2020 has been a
nightmarish year for many industries, but owners of high
quality domains have continued to stand out among the
carnage. With many businesses being forced to launch or
strengthen their online presence in order to survive,
good domains remain in high demand.
Over
the past two weeks three more six-figure sales were added to
the public sales ledger along with a slew of solid five-figure
transactions. Industry pioneer Monte Cahn of RightOfTheDot.com
led the hit parade with a $276,077 sale of Kick.com.
Monte put a second name in the first five, banking an
additional $60,030 for #5 Cogent.com.
|
|
...and
how about Kate Buckley (Buckley
Media)? After topping the chart in our
last report with GreenStreet.com ($100,890), Kate
outdid herself this week with one twice as big - #2
Believe.com at $200,915! That domain is a great
upgrade for the buyers who operate BelieveMusic.com
and BelieveDigital.com.
Both Kick.com and Believe.com now rank among the ten biggest
sales reported so far in
2020.
|
The
ccTLDs also produced several head turning transactions this
time around the track. In the biggest .AI sale reported to
date, Sedo
brokered a €95,000 ($107,350) sale of #3 Expert.ai.
One step back at #4 is a terrific Australian domain -
LifeInsurance.com.au - that went for AUD 100,000 ($69,300) in
a Drop.com.au
auction. The country code contingent wound up with three of the top
six sales with Sedo putting another strong one of the board with #6 Me.nu
at $45,000.
The
ccTLDs wound up with four spots overall while the .coms swept
everything else with Michael Mann's DomainMarket.com
among the venues contributing to the .com assault. They sold #7 HelpWare.com
for $35,000. GoDaddy
put one on the elite list too, handling the INR 909,930 ($12,011) sale
of #19 CloudStore.com to Ramandeep
Singh.

I can
also tell you about two sizeable .com sales that were
closed in 2019 but are just now coming to light
as the seller just sent us documentation of the
transactions. He sold a perfect pair - Instructor.com
for $360,000 and Instructors.com for $140,000.
We have now added those domains to the 2019
Top 100 Sales Chart in our Archives,
with Instructor.com landing at #20 and the plural
version claiming a tie for #37.
Now to
the business at hand. Here's how
all of the sales leaders stacked up for the two weeks
ending Sunday, June 21, 2020: |

cash only sales that have been reported to us in the

a complete list documenting ALL high value domain

Country Codes
The ccTLDs had yet
another strong outing led by that big $107,350 sale of Expert.ai
at Sedo that ranks among the five biggest country code sales
reported so far this year.
The runner-up LifeInsurance.com.au at $69,300 via Drop.com.au
ranks among the top ten ccTLD sales as we near the halfway point in
2020.
You saw the top five sales
on our latest Country
Code Top 20 Sales Chart in the all extension section above, so the
highest one from this group that you haven't seen yet is Sedo's
$22,600 sale of #6 Seguridad.mx. Sedo went on to sweep 19
of the 21 chart entries (the extra spot resulting from a tie for the
final position). Only Drop.com.au and Mark Ghoriafi, with his $10,000
sale of Name.io for Afilias,
kept Sedo from running the table.

Non .com gTLDs (.net, .org and
others, including new gTLDs)
Things were considerably
quieter on the Non .com gTLD front with no reported sales
reaching five figures. However, the new gTLDs earned some
bragging rights as they accounted for 9 of the 14 sales reported in
this category, including the chart topper on our latest Non .Com gTLD Top
Sales Chart. That was GoDaddy's $7,000 sale of Hit.club.
RU-Center put another .club in the top ten with #9 (tie) Paint.club
going for $2,000 there.
Sedo and Afilias
finished the venue race in a dead heat with each platform putting six
names on the elite list. #2 Columbus.net at $6,600
headed the Sedo roster while #3 IM.black at $5,200 led
the charge for Afilias.
