.Coms Dominated Again This Week But Non .Com gTLDs Saw One of Their Top 5 Sales YTD & ccTLDs Put a New One in Their Top 10

Covid-19 has turned a lot of things in the business world upside down but, as they always have, .coms continue to rule the domain sales charts (speaking of Covid-19, find out what some of the industry's leading brokers have to say about how the global pandemic is affecting the domain aftermarket in our new Cover Story). This time around the track, he .coms swept 17 of the 20 entries on our all extension Top 20 Sales Chart covering the past two weeks of reported sales. A typo of the Kohls department store name - Khols.com - took the top spot on the elite list with an $81,559 sale at NameJet.com. WhoIs privacy prevents us from seeing who the new owner is, but the domain is now redirecting to the giant retailer's website at Kohls.com.

The .coms got a big boost from numeric domains that produced three of the top five sales. That trio was led by Sedo's $50,000 sale of #2 (tie) 6115.com. SnapNames put 999555.com in the #4 slot with a $44,000 sale, then Sedo rounded out the first five with #5 1269.com at $40,500. NameJet put yet another numeric on the second half of the leader board - #11 1740.com at $20,508.

Michael Mann's DomainMarket also helped the .com cause with a $25,000 sale of #9 Burials.com. Sedo had the biggest impact, charting 8 .com sales and 11 entries entries overall. The non .com haul included an impressive $50,000 ccTLD sale of #2 (tie) Hop.in (.in is India's country code domain). That is one of the ten biggest ccTLD sales reported so far this year. Sedo put a second country code domain on this week's chart, adding $17,500 for #16 Wholesome.co.

The non .com gTLDs were limited to one spot on the honor roll but they made that one count, with Sedo moving #8 Pop.shop for $28,650. That also ranks among the five biggest non com .gTLD sales reported year to date, ranking #5 on that group's YTD Top 100 (the third chart on the page linked to).

Here's how all of the sales leaders stacked up for the two weeks ending Sunday, May 24, 2020:

Country Codes

The ccTLDs were led by the four five-figure sales you saw in the all extension section above with that big Indian domain - Hop.in - leading the country code charge at $50,000 via Sedo. The biggest sales in this group that you haven't seen yet both just missed the five-figure mark, landing in the 5th and 6th places on our latest Country Code Top 20 Sales Chart. Infirmieres.fr drew $9,900 and Orac.co.uk collected $9,840 with Sedo handling both of those as well.

Sedo wound up sweeping 18 of the 20 chart entries, including #7 Redesign.de at $6,545. DNC.com.au from Australia captured one of the two spots that didn't go to Sedo, ringing up $4,000 for Amped.com.au.

Germany's .de continues to pile up wins in the TLD race, easily outdistancing the field with six chart entries this time out. Here is how the top ccTLD sales stacked up for the two weeks ending Sunday, May 24, 2020:
