Sedo's Dave Evanson Strikes 6-Figure Gold Again & ccTLDs See Their 2nd Biggest Sale of the Year

It's starting to look like Sedo Senior Broker Dave Evanson is planning to take up permanent residence at the top of our weekly all extension Top 20 Sales Chart (bi-weekly for the time being due to the Covid-19 pandemic - next column will be May 26). After leading our last chart with Plains.com at $115,000 (and taking two of the top three sales that week), Evanson remained in the penthouse suite this week after brokering a $180,000 sale of ElectricCar.com.

QualityNames.com owner Dhara Patel held the domain and turned to Evanson to nail down a sale after an initial inquiry came in via Sedo. It's no surprise people keep calling on Dave whose uncanny ability to close has given him a decade-long string of non-stop hits that isn't likely

two-word domain sale we've seen so far this to subside anytime soon. This is the highest year and it also ranks among the ten biggest sales reported year to date.

Equally big news this week was a huge ccTLD sale, also closed at Sedo, where Bier.de ("beer" in German) quaffed a thirst quenching €149,000 ($160,920) in the second biggest country code sale posted so far in 2020 (only Free.co.uk at $205,000 in March has been bigger). That was one of three ccTLDs to crash the elite list. We also saw the biggest .US sale we've see in a couple years with Sedo selling #12 Oxygen.us for $17,999. They also moved #18 DP.co.uk for $12,505.

Still it was a .com kind of week with the world's most popular extension taking every other spot on the honor roll with the exception of #19 SkinCare.net (the lone non .com gTLD entry after a $12,200 sale at Sedo). GritBrokerage.com had a hand in two of the .com's top ten entries. They moved #3 Estates.com for $90,000 and also teamed up with MagnumDomains.com to sell #10 GoPuntaCana.com for $20,000.

We also got some newly released sales information from Monte Cahn at RightOfTheDot.com who ran the NamesCon Live and Online Domain Auctions with GoDaddy in January. With those sales now closed, five earned spots on the Big Board this week, led by #4 Directions.com at $75,000. Several other venues also aided the .com assault. Hitnamer.com moved #6 SensoryPath.com for $39,999 and Michael Mann's DomainMarket.com hit the daily double with #14 (tie) Amanova.com at $15,000 and #17 SendHugs.com at $14,888. Morgan Linton also weighed in, brokering a $15,000 sale of #14 (tie) EverGrow.com.

Here's how all of the sales leaders stacked up for the two weeks ending Sunday, May 10, 2020:

Such a list is impossible to produce because many sales are kept private at the insistence of buyers, sellers or both. Country Codes

The ccTLDs continue to perform very well. In addition to that 800-pound gorilla - Bier.de at $160,920 - the country codes rang up a quartet of five-figure sales. You saw all of those in the all extension section above, so the highest sale in this group that you haven't seen yet is #6 on our latest Country Code Top 20 Sales Chart. That is Sedo's $8,100 sale of Notarkostenrechner.de
("notary cost calculator" in German)

Sedo wet on to sweep 17 of the 20 entries in a category they have always dominated. The only exception on the top half of the leader board was DomainLore.uk's $5,612 sale of #9 UKCider.co.uk. DomainLore also sold #16 J4BGrants.co.uk for $4,104. Raymond Hackney at TLDInvestors.com grabbed the other spot that eluded Sedo with #11 Recon.io at $4,999.

Germany's .de scored yet another win in the TLD race with five chart entries. Great Britain's .co.uk was next with three. Here is how the top ccTLD sales stacked up for the two weeks ending Sunday, May 10, 2020:

Non .com gTLDs (.net, .org and others, including new gTLDs)

The non .com gTLDs racked up a lot of sales over the past two weeks but only one reached five figures - the $12,200 chart topper SkinCare.net. Sedo posted that sale as well as the next highest one on our latest Non .Com gTLD Top 20 Sales Chart - #2 AMK.net at $9,800. Sedo went on to pile up 11 of the 20 chart entries.

Afilias had another strong outing as well, putting five names on the honor roll with a roster led by #3 HD.poker at $9,100. Afilias Director of Premium Domains Mark Ghoriafi told us he brokered a bigger one than that - Online.poker in five figures - but that one was subject to an NDA.

Rounding out the first five are an $8,500 sale of #4 Med.org from the RightOfTheDot/Godaddy NamesCon auction and Shaun Wilkinson of Nidoma.com's $7,560 sale of #5 Building.cloud for the .cloud registry.

The .nets won the extension race with five chart entries but, as a group, the new gTLDs had a lot to be happy about with 11 spots on the leader board. Here is how the non .com gTLD sales stacked up for the two weeks ending ending Sunday, May 10, 2020:
