Domain Summit Africa 2026 Proved Continent's Industry is Ready for Prime Time

By Ron Jackson

A historic domain industry event was held this week when Africa's first major conference for domain investors, developers and service providers was staged in Nairobi, Kenya. Domain Summit Africa 2026 was the latest bold idea to pay off for conference founder Helmuts Meskonis whose track already included  four annual editions of the original Domain Summit conference in London (the most recent of which was held in September). Helmuts had already made his first foray into a new market as well when he worked with strategic partners to put on the first Domain Summit Asia event that was held in Hong Kong in November.

Still, still with a domain market that is much less mature than Asia's, Africa, on paper, looked to be a much bigger challenge for a conference organizer. Undeterred, Helmuts, in association with Kenic (operator of the .ke registry) took the plunge February 22-24 when the first Domain Summit Africa ran at the Villa Rosa Lempinski Hotel in Nairoibi. It didn't just run - it flourished - with a sold out crowd showing up in a remarkably big way  for the landmark event.
