According to an old
saying that begins, "March comes in like a
lion..." That was originally a reference to the
weather but you could argue that it also applies to domains
- at least this year. The proof is in our latest latest all-extension Top 20 Sales
Chart where Sedo
went on a rampage, devouring the top two spots with a million
dollar sale and another just a hair under the 7-figure
mark. They also chalked up two other six-figure sales to claim
four of the first seven spots on the elite list. Now I know
some of you will point out that the full adage is "March
comes in like a lion and goes out a lamb" but I'm
not going to worry about April until it gets here! :-)
Especially when this month is giving us so many good reasons
to celebrate.

|
Sedo's
headliner is a $1.2
million dollar sale of GX.com that now ranks as
the second highest publicly reported sale of the
year to date, trailing only the $2.2 million of
Commerce.com last month. Sedo went on to have twice as much
fun, thanks to a second blockbuster closed by broker Mark
"Mr. Premium" Ghoriafi with a domain tailor made
for this moment, Double.com
at $980,000. Those two at the top were
followed by five more 6-figure transactions, including Sedo's $130,800
sale of #6 Coches.es ("cars in Spanish) and a
$120,000 sale of #7 WWWW.com.
Sedo
wasn't the only beast running wild on the leader board as .AI
was doing the same. That TLD that just seems
to get more ferocious with every passing week. This time
around the track, .AI ran down five of the top ten sales
and took half of the chart entries overall! #3 Ace.ai
led the charge with a $205,000 sale at Atom.com
and #4 OS.ai drew oohs and aahs after changing hands
for $150,000 in a private transaction. Namecheap,
as they always do, accounted for a huge chunk of the high end
.ai sales by putting seven of them on the honor roll this time
out.
With ccTLDs
taking 11 places and the .coms 7 (including a
six-figure sale at SnapNames
in #5 Samba.com at $143,0000), there were only
two chairs left for the non .com gTLDs. Those went to
#18 VL.org at $45,000 (sold by Synergy.media
through NameArena.com)
and #20 Borderless.xyz (sold by Swetha.xyz
via Afternic).

Country
Codes
The ccTLDs has
an amazing outing with every name on our latest Country Code Top 20
Sales Chart reaching at least five figures. Three of them
commanded six figures including chart topper Ace.ai at $205,000
via Atom.com.
Above I noted that
.AI domains took 10 of the 20 entries on the all extension
leader board. They were even more dominant on the Country
Code Top 20, sweeping 15 of the 20 entries, including nine of
the top 10! Sedo accounted for all of the country code
sales that were not .ai, including that great $130,800
sale of #3 Coches.es.
