A
Quartet
of Six-Figure Domain Sales Led by a $289,000 .Com Top Our Latest Chart
|
The
unwelcome arrival of Hurricane Milton in Florida's Tampa
Bay area (where we are based) brought things to a
standstill here last week. The monster storm rolled in
Wednesday night (Oct. 9) when we normally would have been
putting out this bi-weekly sales report. While Milton left a
path of destruction throughout central Florida, we were very
fortunate to escape the damage and flooding that you've no
doubt seen and read about elsewhere. That was primarily due to
the storm coming ashore a little further down the coast than
originally expected.
Even
with the eye about 60 miles south of us, we experienced
the strongest winds we've ever been in. That left a lot of

broken
tree limbs and debris to clean up but that was nothing
compared to the impact on millions of other Floridians. Our
hearts go out to them, especially those who no longer have
a home to go back to this week.
Now
that we are up and running let's get back to the unfinished
business. This report will cover all of the notable
sales that came in since our last report on September 25. Saw.com
and GoDaddy
brokers teamed up to sell the #1 domain on our latest
all-extension Top 20 Sales Chart. That was Trill.com at $289,000.
We are especially happy to have that one happen for our long-time
friend and Saw.com Founder Jeff Gabriel this week
because he was also affected by Hurricane Milton and his house
was much closer to the eye than hours. With the original track
indicating the storm would go right over Jeff's house, he
wisely evacuated his family and didn't know what he would find
when he got back. It was a huge relief to hear the late track
shift also saved his home from serious damage.

The
#2 sale on the new chart also happens to be the 2nd biggest
publicly reported non .com gTLD sale of the year
to date. That is Andy
Media's $200,000 sale of Casino.bet through
Atom.com.
Next up at #3 is the year's 2nd biggest ccTLD
sale to date, MortgageBroker.com.au at AUD $295,000
(USD $198,018). The owners of Money.com.au acquired
the domain in a private
transaction and now have a new site running on it. The name is
obviously a natural fit for them and when you consider what a
mortgage costs these days, that looks like a pretty good price
for a category defining domain. The quartet of six-figure
sales at the top was rounded out by Sedo's
solid $129,995 sale of #4 Betex.com.
There
is yet another six-figure
transaction to tell you about, one that will be charted after
an agreed upon payment schedule is completed. That was a
$229,000 sale of Cluck.com that Shane Cultra (Domain
Shane) and his partner at DSAD.com,
Travis McKee, made through Atom.com. Shane said
the duo acquired the domain about five years ago for less
than $20,000. That's obviously a great ROI on a smart buy
made by for two of the brightest (and nicest) guys in the
domain business.

Another
big story line over the past three weeks was the continuing
strength of .AI domains. They piled up seven spots on
the latest leader board with a roster led by #6 Travel.ai at
$90,000 via Namecheap
and Andy
Booth's $80,000 sale #7 Convergence.ai. All
of those .ai sales helped the ccTLDs sweep 11 chart
entries overall.
Here is how
all of the
leaders stacked up for the three weeks ending Sunday,
