Summer
Sales Siesta Leaves Room for the TheRide.com to Rise to Top of the
Chart
We're in the
middle of summer now and it looks like all of the high end
domain shoppers have gone to the beach. None of the verified
sales reported over the past two weeks reached $40,000,
leaving room on the upper reaches on our all extension Top 20 Sales Chart for
low five figure sales to take a rare turn in the spotlight.
The primary beneficiary was TheRide.com, a domain that
was able to claim the top spot with a $38.150 sale at Sedo.
Non
.com domains also typically gain a higher profile when
overall prices are down and that was the case this time out
with six ccTLDs and a pair of non .com gTLDs
taking places
on
the Big Board. The highest of those was Sedo's $33,000
sale of Apprenticeships.org. A pair of .ai
domains, riding the current artificial intelligence
wave, led the charge for the country code domains. #3 Shark.ai
went for $28,000 and #5 Litmus.ai landed $24,000
in private transactions.
Still,
with a $25,000 sale of Clavi.com sandwiched
between those two, the .coms went on to pile up a dozen
entries overall, allowing the world's most popular TLD to
retain its customary majority position. AscendDomains.com
helped the .com cause with a $13,888 sale of #13 QQPoker.com,
as did Dynadot
with a $10,000 sale of #17 (tie) PornAI.com.
While
the non .com gTLDs were limited to twp chart entries, both .orgs,
that $33,000 sale of Apprenticeships.org is the 6th
biggest sale in that category so
far this year (The 2023 Non .Com gTLD Top 100
Chart is the third chart on the page linked to).
One
of the more interesting ccTLD sales was a rare chart appearance
for a .net.au domain. SapoBlue.com.au
pulled that rabbit out of the hat by moving XM.net.au for
AUD 27,500 ($18,425).
