If
this was the movie business, 3-letter .coms could be
looked at as our versions of Brad Pitt and Scarlett
Johansson - they always draw big bucks at the box office!
That has been proven yet again with Sedo
banking €110,000 ($133,100) for MIM.com to
take the top spot on our latest bi-weekly all-extension
Top 20 Sales Chart. With the domain still under WhoIs
privacy we don't yet know if the buyer was an investor or an
end user but 3-letter .coms have proven to be a consistent
winner with both groups.
XYNames.com
claimed the #2 spot on the Big Board after receiving the final
installment of a payment plan the buyer used to acquire CashGo.com
for $75,000. The .coms then
|
|
completed
a trifecta at the top of the elite list with #3 Chatroom.com
bringing $65,167 via Web.com's
SellYourDomain service. The .coms went on to pile up 14 of
the 20 entries on the honor roll.
|
The ccTLDs also had a very good
outing, claiming five places on the leader aboard, including two in
the top ten. Those were EMall.ca's
$35,000 (USD) sale of #4 SportsBet.ca and Sedo's $30,250
sale of #6 (tie) Coach.co. Sedo also rang the other three
country code domains that made a big splash in the sales pool. The
non .com gTLDs were limited to one spot but that was a solid $25,000
sale of new gTLD VK.shop, also thanks to Sedo who went on to
sweep 13 chart entries overall. Everything
else went to the .coms who got a pair of assists from Michael
Mann's DomainMarket.com
where #10 Liono.com sold for $27,000 and #11 (tie) Remilk.com
returned $25,000. EmpiresNames.com
also aided the .com cause with their $30,000 sale of #8 Smokefree.com,
as did NameJet
with a $20,289 sale of Premix.com.

Country Codes
The ccTLDs were,
of course, led by the five domains that earned spots on the all
extension leader board, plus two additional five figure sales
that were also listed in the all extension section above. EMall.ca's
$35,000 sale of SportsBet.ca set the pace followed by
a massive sales assault from Sedo who swept 17 of the 20
chart entries, including the three biggest sales from this group
that you haven't seen yet. That trio rounded out the top ten on
our latest Country Code Top 20 Sales
Chart with Sexting.de going for $9,075, Clever.io
for $8,999 and Aelys.fr for $8,470.
The only other
exceptions to the Sedo rule were #15 Matter.in, sold for $6,700
in a private transaction, and #19 TheKnowledge.co.uk,
moved through BuyDomainNames.co.uk,
for $6,030.
Germany's popular .de
TLD won the extension race again but with fewer entries that usual -
four. In a very diverse outing, 12 different TLDs earned chart
entries with none, other than .de, taking more than two spots. Here is how the top ccTLD sales stacked up
for the two weeks ending Sunday, Dec. 6, 2020:

Non .com gTLDs (.net, .org and

The non .com gTLDs

($25,000 at Sedo) getting support from 1sld.com's
$12,100 sale of X.gl and another Sedo sale, Saleh.net
at $10,000. Sedo rounded out the first five on our latest Non.Com gTLD Top 20 Sales
Chart with Sushi.finance at $6,600 and Esim.biz

(every other Wednesday during the Covid-19 pandemic) we publish
the highest reported domain name sales for the previous week. On
Mondays and Tuesdays our contributors send us their sales data
for the previous 7 days. We then compile that information and
write this article to give you the most comprehensive sales
report in the industry.
Editor's Note:
If you wish to review previous Domain Sales columns, they
are available in our Archive.
