A 6-Figure .Com, a Near 6-Figure ccTLD and an Angelic gTLD Take Top Spots on Latest Sales Chart

Another interesting couple of weeks in the domain aftermarket is in the books with our latest all extension Top 20 Sales Chart giving investors in every category a lot to like. The long dominant .coms continued to rule the roost as demonstrated by the latest chart topper, a $350,000 sale of BabyAndBeyond.com made through the joint efforts of BrandLily.com (representing the seller) and GoDaddy (working on behalf of the buyer).

That is an impressive price for a three-word .com but this one was of special interest to the buyer - Beyond Inc. (the company previously known as Overstock.com that acquired and adopted the name of bankrupt big-box retailer Bed Bath & Beyond in 2023). BrandLily posted a detailed account of how the negotiations went down in what is the 4th highest publicly reported domain sale of the year to date.

The #2 sale fell less than $200 short of the six-figure mark. That was Sedo's solid $99,888 sale of X.ar - a rare one-letter domain from Argentina's official country code TLD That is 2023's 6th highest ccTLD sale to date. Non .com gTLD Halo.xyz completed the power trio at the top after changing hands for $85,000 through DAN.com. That is also a top ten 2023 sale for its category, coming in at #4 year to date.

Overall, the .coms piled up 13 of the 20 chart entries with their big hitters including Sedo's $65,000 sale of #4 LVK.com and Michael Mann's DomainMarket.com moving of #6 DeltaOptical.com via Sedo for $30,000. DomainMarket also scored with #15 RyanSports.com at $16,900.

The non .com gTLDS claimed four slots on the elite list including two more in the top ten - #5 Habibi.xyz at $39,888 via DAN.com and #8 Pay.day at $22,470 through Sedo. Afternic's $19,625 sale of #12 Smart.health completed that group's chart quartet.

The ccTLDs earned three places on the honor roll with X.ar getting back up from Dynadot's $20,000 sale of #10 Archon.co and Sedo's $19,795 sale of Zertifiziert.de ("certified" in German).

Country Codes

The ccTLDs were led by that trio of five-figure sales you saw on the all-extension leader board above with Sedo's $99,888 sale of X.ar standing head and shoulders above the crowd. The biggest sale in this group that you haven't seen yet is the #4 name on our latest bi-weekly Country Code Top 20 Sales Chart. That was another Sedo sale, Diligence.io at $9,740.

Sedo, who has traditionally dominated the ccTLD market, went on to sweep 17 of the 20 chart entries and they rounded out the first five with InterZero.es at $9,500. Dynadot claimed the three chart entries that didn't go to Sedo with #11 VeraLab.co.uk leading their trio at $5,994.

The TLD race was one of the most diverse ones we've ever seen with 15 different TLDs represented on the leader board. Only two extensions had more than one entry - .de with four and .es with three. The biggest surprise was seeing only one .ai domain on the list. They have been red hot for months now and odds are this was just an anomaly rather than a change of direction for that TLD that has tremendous momentum at its back thanks to the artificial intelligence boom.

Here is how the ccTLDs stacked up for the two weeks ending Sunday, April 14, 2024:

Non .com gTLDs

The Non .com gTLDs made bank with a quintet of five-figure sales this time around the track, led by a pair of .xyz domains sold at DAN.com - Halo.xyz at $85,000 and Habibi.xyz at $39,888. The biggest sale in this category that you haven't seen yet is the #6 domain on our latest Non .Com Top Sales Chart - Sedo's $8,800 sale of TJP.org.

As was the case with the ccTLDs, we saw a lot of diversity on this group's chart with a dozen different TLDs represented. Those included several we've rarely seen on the sales charts, including .day (#3 Pay.day went for $22,479), .miami (#7 G.miami went for $8,500) and .ink (#14 O.ink sold for $4,450).
