Free.Games Changes Hands for Big Bucks in the Year's Biggest Non .Com Sale to Date - Week's Top .Com Also Sells For 6 Figures

Last year four reported new gTLD sales reached six figures. With this year almost half over none have been reported at that level - until now. We've learned that Webquest has just closed a blockbuster $335,000 sale of Free.Games that is not only the year's biggest new gTLD sale to date, it is also the biggest non .com sale of any kind including ccTLDs and legacy non .com gTLDs like .net and .org - and it is the biggest by far. It is over five times more than the highest reported ccTLD sale - Seereisen.de ("sea travel" in German) at $66,640 and the previous non .com gTLD leader - Business.club at $60,936. In addition to topping our latest weekly all extension Top 20 Sales Chart below, Free.games also ranks as the 8th biggest sale, regardless of category, on our 2019 Year to Date Top 100 Sales Chart.

Of course, six-figure sales are much more common in the .com category and yet another hit that level this week (the 20th to do so in 2019). That was ApexMoon.com's $115,000 sale of Import.com. Three more .coms rounded out the first five - Sedo's $40,000 sale of HappyLook.com and a pair of $35,000 sales - LoveLetter.com and VelvetRope.com - made by Braden Pollock's LegalBrandMarketing.com (LBM). LBM put two more on the Big Board with #7 (tie) BreathCheck.com at $20,000 and #20 DivorceLawyers.net at $9,750.

While the competition was stiffer this week, Sedo still wound up with the most chart entries, taking nine places overall, including the two biggest ccTLD sales - #6 Serramenti.it ("window frames" in Italian) at $28,500 and #7 (tie) OnlineCasino.me at $20,000. GritBrokerage.com also charted two country code sales - #13 (tie) Decrypt.co at $11,250 and #16 Savor.co at $11,000. DomainMedia.ca gave the ccTLDs a 5th entry on the honor roll by moving #15 MyBud.ca for CAD 15,000 ($11,100 USD).

The non .com gTLDs wound up with four names on the elite list with Free.Games and DivorceLawyers.net getting back up from Sedo's $14,692 sale of #12 Electronics.org and a $10,500 sale of #17 Good.world that WebQuest made via Afternic.

Everything else went to the .coms who took 11 of the 20 entries overall. Here's a look at how all of the sales leaders stacked for the week ending Sunday, May 26, 2019:

Country Codes

The ccTLDs were, of course, led by that quintet of five-figure sales you saw on the all extension leader board above, with Sedo's $28,500 sale of Serramenti.it setting the pace. The biggest sale in this group that you haven't seen yet is #6 on our latest Country Code Top 20 Sales Chart. That also comes from Sedo - a $9,690 sale of Beach.de.

Sedo went on to sweep 16 of the 20 chart entries including #7 V8.cc at $8,670 and the entire second half of the leader board. One of the few exceptions to the Sedo rule was #8 Touchdown.co, a name that Matt Field sold in a private transaction for $7,500.

Germany's .de scored an easy win in the extension race by piling up eight chart entries. No other TLD has more than three. Here is how the top ccTLD sales stacked up for the week ending Sunday, May 26, 2019:

Non .com gTLDs (.net, .org and others, including new gTLDs)

Only 14 sales were reported in the Non .com gTLD category this week but they had the 800-pound gorilla in that $335,000 sale of Free.Games. You saw that one and the group's next three top sales on the all extension leader board above. The #5 spot in our latest weekly Non.com gTLD Top Sales Chart is another new gTLD sale made by WebQuest, this time through Uniregistry where they sold Business.services for $8,000.

WF.club followed the first five, changing hands for $5,618 via Chinese registrar Chengdu West. The .GLOBAL Registry filled the final slot on the top half of the board with EFL.global at $4,800.
